Cardamom has been used for centuries as an aphrodisiac as well as a digestive aid. It is sometimes called cardamon or cardamum depending on which part of the world you live in. See the short article below for more information.
The following article is reproduced with kind permission of P.Topham, U.S. Nutritional and Herbal Researcher:
Cardamom
is a perennial bush 2.4m, with smooth green cane-like stems and large
dark green leaf blades sheathed at the base. The flower is yellowish with
a purple lip, succeeded by the fruit and dark brown seeds.
The harvested
seed, having culinary and herbal uses, is aromatic and considered an
aphrodisiac in the Indian culture. It is frequently added to coffee in
Saudi Arabia and curries
in India.
One of Cardamom's main uses is as a digestive aid due to its soothing
and antispasmodic properties. Studies have shown it may help with any
digestive
condition.
When you take the cardamom you can either take it on its own or add it to a little water or juice. Full instructions come on the bottle.
